Phoenix Fan Fusion is Arizona’s comic book, fandom, writer, and all-around nerd convention held in the State’s capital. I try to make this a yearly stop on my travels. I buy my pass like every other nerd in the building. Unfortunately, This year, I could only attend the last of the three-day event, but I made the best of it. I played games, met with vendors, met my hero and other celebrities, attended writing panels, extended my Funko Pop collection, and donated a Power Red blood donation. Overall, you can say it was a very productive and busy day. I enjoyed seeing all the people dressed in cosplay. It is always a blast. From a writer’s perspective, there is much to do. Quite a few writers go to the event to advertise their latest project or set of work.
A few writers participate in panels to share their personal experiences with the writing and publishing process. A fellow writer and friend, Megan Pepper, and I attended several of these panels and discussed our experiences with the other writers at the event. That is one thing you must appreciate about the writing business: even though we compete for the reader’s money, most writers will praise and support fellow writers. I believe, in part, we do that because we know how difficult it is to be a writer.
Have you ever been to a comic book convention? Would you share your writing expertise with other writers?
