I’m an extroverted introvert, meaning that I love to talk to people but I very seldom share personal details with anyone. Every morning I start my day at 4 a.m. with a list of tasks, then I go outside on the patio with my father and a neighbor friend. During this time, we discuss everything from current events to our life experiences. Both the other two men have lived long and eventful lives, and I enjoy hearing their experiences. I feel that it is imperative to share our lives with others. Humans are meant to be social beings, but unlike social media, which is just a dumping ground of some of the day-to-day crap of life and birthday wishes, real interpersonal communication is invaluable. Even if nothing comes from the conversation but a sharing of life experiences or opinions, it’s very fruitful.

Do you take the time to just sit, talk, and listen to other human beings?
