I’ve mentioned quite a bit about what I always carry with me. I’m a big fan of having a pocket knife, pen, and flashlight wherever I go. I used to keep all this in my right pocket because I’m right-handed, and it was always handy. I use these items several times a day, so I didn’t like having them in my pocket, wasting space, and getting mixed up with change and keys. This made it slower to grab them. My dad, who used to be a jack-of-all-trades industrial maintenance man, suggested I put them in a pouch. He carried a Leatherman in a leather pouch with a flashlight and mini screwdriver for his entire career. I looked on Amazon and found a pouch I liked. Enter the Topstache Leather Multitool Sheath with Belt Clip. It’s a mouthful, but the pouch is exactly what I needed. I have all my EDC in one easy-to-carry pouch that slides or clips onto any pants or belt I wear. The best part is that retrieving the items is quicker and easier since they don’t get caught up with the other junk in my pockets. If I go somewhere that doesn’t allow these items, it’s easy to remove and throw into my glovebox and put back on as soon as I get out. I love this thing. I had to make two changes to the setup to match my gear arrangement. First, I added a length of cord to my Swiss Army Knife so I could pull it out faster, as it tends to get stuck low in the pouch. The pouch is designed with Leatherman’s in mind. Second, I trimmed the leather above the knife slot because it was getting in my way when I tried to pull the knife. I’ve been using the pouch daily for a couple of months, and I absolutely love it. I know now why my dad carried a pouch all those years. I also got him one too. I can’t wait to see the pouch in a few years as the leather ages.
