As readers of this blog may remember from the What’s In My Backpack – Summer 2024 post, I was carrying an Xbox Controller for games on Microsoft’s GamePass and Xbox Game Streaming services. After Microsoft decided to raise rates of Xbox GamePass pricing for the fourth time this year, I recently decided to switch back to carrying a Nintendo Switch Lite in my everyday bag. The Nintendo Switch has several games that I play daily. I can now enjoy short gaming sessions while I’m on the move. I also decided to get rid of my Xbox and its subscription and pay Nintendo for the games I want to play, and as a bonus, I get retro Nintendo and Saga games with my Nintendo Online Subscription I have been paying in addition to Microsoft’s GamePass. After deciding to cut out the nearly $240 a year I was paying Microsoft, I can get four AAA Nintendo fun and family-friendly games. I figured I would benefit from the games I preferred, as I have always enjoyed Mario and Nintendo games.

Which would you prefer between Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo? Do you carry a gaming setup for your downtime?
