It seems that I’m constantly updating my Everyday Carry and it’s one of the most asked questions. Therefore it’s time for my reoccurring article “What’s In My Pockets.”
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max (512GB, Graphite)
My pocket workhorse is the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max. There are several reasons why I went with the Pro Max this year, but the most important one of those is the cameras. Besides my writing, I enjoy photography. With the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max, I can ditch the SLR and pull out my phone to get the snapshots. It also doesn’t hurt to have a larger screen when ideas strike, and I need to write a paragraph or even a few pages.
Apple Leather Case with MagSafe – (Product) RED
For anyone that knows me, they knew I was going to go with the (Product) RED iPhone case in leather. Red is my favorite color, and this color red is a little lighter for me, but it will darken with age. The case is a little more pricey than its sibling, the silicone case. I love the way Apple’s leather ages over the two to three years that I will be rocking the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Apple Leather Wallet with MagSafe – Saddle Brown
A new accessory from Apple this year is the MagSafe Wallet. I use to carry a full-sized wallet filled with cards. This new MagSafe Wallet has forced me into condensing that to just three cards. Overall, with Apple Pay being most places that I shop, I seldom need to pull out my cards. Many reviews online criticized that Apple MagSafe Wallet’s ability to stick to the back of the iPhone. I personally have never had any trouble with the wallet falling off, and I’m not the gentlest person with it either. I went with the saddle brown color wallet because I feel that it will age better than the black and will accent the (Product) RED leather case that I got on my iPhone. If I had to gripe about anything, it is that with three cards, I often find it difficult to remove cards. This should be less of a problem as the wallet stretches as it ages.
Victorinox Swiss Army Spartan Pocket Knife
The Boy Scout in me strikes again. It seems as if I have always carried a Victorinox Swiss Army Pocket Knife. I even remember getting into trouble at school for bringing it to show and tell one year. I find that you never know when or where the trusty Swiss Army knife will come in handy, and it never fails that when you don’t have it, you need it. It’s no coincidence that at least one character in my stories always has their trusty Victorinox Swiss Army Pocket Knife. I find it an invaluable piece of my everyday carry.
Apple AirPods Pro
As someone that struggled with ADHD all their life, I learned that music is a way to cut out the noise of life around me. As soon as I learned that Apple was coming out with noise-canceling AirPods, I was all for them. I love the AirPod design and functionality within the Apple ecosystem, for which I’m completely invested. It’s not unusual to see me jamming away. Whether I’m hard at work at a Starbucks or walking through the grocery store, I always seem to have my AirPods Pro in my ears.
Twelve South AirSnap Pro – Black
When the AirPods Pros are not in my ears, they are in their charging case. I love the simple design, but I don’t want the case or the AirPod to get damaged, so I keep them in the Twelve South AirSnap Pro case. This leather case protects the AirPods and, like all Twelve South’s leather goods, look fantastic.
Fisher Space Pen Matte Black Bullet Space Pen with Clip
The Fisher Space Pen is my Everyday Carry pen of choice. As a writer, I carry more than one pen everywhere I go, but it the Fisher Space Pen that lives in my pockets. The Space Pen folds into a compact design which I admit makes it easier to lose. I think this is the fourth one I have bought this year. That is why this time, I bought the one with the clip to attach to the pocket, so it makes it harder to lose. The pressurized ink of the Fisher Space Pen makes writing easy and consistent, which I love about it. I’ve yet to have one run out of ink on me since I lose the pen before that, but you can get a refill from Amazon or most office supply stores. If you are interested in reading what other writing utensils I use, leave a comment or contact me directly on social media.
