I love power carving wood, especially faces, using a RYOBI Rotary Tool. If you’re thinking about trying this hobby, I’d definitely recommend wearing a glove. Rotary tools have super fast spinning blades that cut into wood, creating a cloud of sawdust. Just imagine what that blade can do to flesh! I wear and highly recommend a snug leather glove. The leather on my glove has been quite worn down by the burrs I’ve used. While wearing a glove around spinning blades does come with its own risks, it’s worth it because a tight leather glove prevents the blades from grabbing onto the glove if it gets caught but the glove to protects my exposed hand while carving. These are the gloves I use.

Do you wear a glove when you power carve?
